External wall insulation with a rendered ETICS system

Improve comfort and renew your façade with external insulation tailored to the building. We reduce heat loss and address thermal bridges without taking up indoor floor space.

How external wall insulation works

ETICS stands for External Thermal Insulation Composite System. Insulation, its fixings and a protective rendered finish are installed on the outside of the façade. Together they reduce heat transfer through the walls and renew the building’s appearance.

ETICS layers: insulation, fixings, mesh and render

Insulation boards and fixings

Boards are installed on a prepared façade using adhesive and fixings specified for the system and substrate. Continuity around windows, columns and floor edges is essential for limiting thermal bridges.

Reinforced base coat and finish

A mesh-reinforced base coat and final render cover the insulation. Profiles and reinforcement address corners, openings and exposed areas. The finish provides weather protection and the façade’s colour and texture.

Materials and thickness for your building

We assess expanded polystyrene (EPS, including graphite EPS) or mineral wool systems for the project. Thickness depends on climate, the existing wall and insulation targets, alongside fire and moisture performance. Components must belong to the specified system and follow its technical documentation.

Problems it helps address

Indoor heat and cold

Limits heat transfer through the façade and helps maintain more stable indoor temperatures throughout the year.

Energy loss

Reduces heating and cooling demand associated with the treated walls. Actual savings depend on the whole building and how it is used.

Thermal bridges and cold walls

Continuous external insulation can address areas of greater heat loss. It may reduce surface condensation risk alongside suitable ventilation and moisture control.

Ageing façades

Allows damaged finishes to be renewed and the building’s appearance improved after substrate defects have been repaired.

Where it can be installed

Suitable projects can include houses, apartment buildings and other properties, in refurbishment or new construction. We check façade stability, working access and the effect of added thickness on windows, balconies, eaves and property boundaries.

Benefits of external insulation

  • External insulation without reducing usable indoor space.
  • Improved comfort and thermal continuity across the façade.
  • Energy refurbishment and a new appearance in one intervention.
  • Work mainly from outside, reducing work inside homes.
  • A choice of colours and textures within the system’s compatible options.

How we install the system

We inspect the façade and repair loose areas, cracks and moisture problems first. We prepare the substrate, install boards and fixings, complete junctions, and apply the reinforced coat and finish. Plinths, window sills and terminations receive particular attention.

ETICS does not replace repairs to leaks, rising damp or structural damage. It is neither roof waterproofing nor a ventilated façade. The system must suit the individual building, with finishes and junctions inspected and maintained.

Tell us about your façade

Tell us the location, building type and whether comfort, energy use or façade condition is your priority. We assess the system and prepare a proposal for work in Spain and abroad.
